"These provocative yet lyrical pieces captured my imagination in a way no other art ever has, and I knew that they needed to grace my walls not only for their incredible beauty but also for their ability to stimulate and inspire me for many years to come."

"To say that I was exhilarated when I left Rubina’s gallery that day would be an understatement.  My senses were all heightened, my spirit renewed, my soul restored.  And, in the end, isn’t that what all great art and great artists should do?"                                                                                               -Meredith Anderson

"I had been looking for some time for art work for my new home, and a chance encounter while swimming brought me into the orbit of Rubina Anjum, an immensely gifted artist who commits to canvas images of such incomparable beauty and raw power that they resonate with you long after you have finished viewing them. When I visited her gallery to see her work in person, Rubina described the thoughts and inspiration underlying each of her pieces and I found myself transfixed, delving deeper and deeper into her brush strokes to identify the hidden figures and symbolic meanings not apparent upon first glance.  I was mesmerized by both the intellectual and the emotional depth of her oil paintings, many of which challenge the viewer to contemplate the role humans are playing in the ever-increasing destruction of our fragile planet, and I was particularly drawn to two of her exquisite works — Tanami Desert and Terkezi Oasis.

These provocative yet lyrical pieces captured my imagination in a way no other art ever has, and I knew that they needed to grace my walls not only for their incredible beauty but also for their ability to stimulate and inspire me for many years to come.  I also purchased several prints in Rubina’s eloquent Earth series to serve as complementary works throughout my home.  These bold and forceful pieces, reflecting Rubina’ vision and passion for the planet, showcase her extraordinary ability to render complex thoughts and ideas into dazzling images filled with purpose and possibility.

Rubina also allowed me to peruse a treasure trove of her original watercolors while she outlined the creative thinking behind each of them. Some of the images sprang from her fertile mind when she was teaching a specific art lesson; others were shaped by her imaginative take on life’s more sublime moments. All of them had their own distinct vibrancy and alluring hum, feeding off the energy with which they were created. Choosing among them proved difficult, but I ended up selecting two works with which I could identify most acutely — Escape from the Mind, a gorgeous meditation in blues and greens that vividly reminded me of the aquamarine sea near my childhood home (and the place that I retreat to in my mind’s eye whenever the stressors of life become too much), and Musical Harvest, a swirling symphony of vibrant colors and kinetic motion so alive that I could almost hear the underlying melody of the composition.

To say that I was exhilarated when I left Rubina’s gallery that day would be an understatement.  My senses were all heightened, my spirit renewed, my soul restored.  And, in the end, isn’t that what all great art and great artists should do?"
